Rosann Konieczny is a majorly talented artist {and a dear friend!} based in the Minneapolis area that has a knack for creating the most gorgeous work with her calligraphy script skills. How did you get into the Calligraphy business?
"I have been doing calligraphy for as long as I can remember - ever since junior high. However, in a professional sense, I started out in the business as a graphic designer doing calligraphy work for local Minneapolis graphic design shops. I even moved to California, where I really got into typography and calligraphy. Calligraphy was just something that I took to immediately. Although, I never expected to be in the wedding industry, it was just sort of serendipitous. The wedding industry itself wasn't even really a thing at first - until all of a sudden it was. I had wedding planners, stationary designers and other people in the wedding business reach out to me for my work - and it just kept happening. Now the majority of my work is for weddings, and I have met and created so many great relationships through it!"

What are some of the most creative surfaces for your calligraphy that you have worked with?
"I definitely create a lot of paper work like invitations, place cards, menus, etc. However, I have also worked on some cool projects and have done lettering on pieces of wood, mirrors, seaglass, rocks, and even cakes and balloons. If I am able to find the right tools - you name it and I am more than willing to try it! Every year I await the unique ideas and projects people have for me to tackle."

Do you typically create your own fonts?
"I have created some of my own fonts, yes. Often times I am asked if I can recreate a particular font for a client - or come up with my own rendition of it. The first time I truly created my own font was when I was working as a hostess at a restaurant. My managers would occasionally have me write the seasonal wine lists or menus, etc. I really love to play around with different fonts and have fun with it! I really enjoy the fact that I am able to convey a certain emotion or feeling through the look of the letters."

What is your favorite piece of work that you have done?
"Oh gosh, it's hard to pick just one! I really do love it all, and I feel so fortunate to work in a such a fun industry where everyone is so happy and one that is all about love. Although, I suppose I do have a few favorites. I had a couple come to me with love letters that they had written to each other, and I wrote them out to create a piece of art for them for their anniversary. I also had the sweetest man present me with an entire journal that he wrote for his bride to be, and he had me write a book of all of the love letters that he had written to her over the years. One final thing that I am also very proud of is creating logo lettering for some fellow wedding industry professionals, such as Flutter Bridal Boutique, Laura Ivanova, and of course, Style-Architects Weddings & Events! It's the moments and people like these that make me feel so privileged to be a part of their stories!"

How far out do you book?
"I like to say as soon as you choose a vendor for your invites or other time consuming projects, think about what calligrapher you'd like to work with. My schedule tends to fill up rather quickly at the beginning of the year, so i would book me as soon as you can! Of course I am also happy to take on some last minute projects as well, so long as I have enough time!"

It's not uncommon that modern brides aren't sold on the idea of wearing a veil {or even having a train}. Finally, there is a new trend surfacing as an alternative. Green Bee Juicery
Exciting news! One of our brides, Mallory, formed Green Bee Juicery, a company that cold-presses juice from fresh local produce! And guess what... their raw, organic juices {especially the 8oz jars} are PERFECT as a wedding favor or to put in a welcome bag!
With all the drinking that often accompanies weddings, what better way to prep your body or to recover from a fabulous night of celebration? The morning of her wedding day, Mallory shared a couple juice growlers with her bridesmaids while they were getting ready to get some rich nutrients into their systems. Turmeric Glow and champagne makes for a tasty {and healthier} mimosa! And if a little recovery is in order, Mallory states their Classic and Watermelon Cooler juices are great for hangovers!
We are super excited for Mallory and her new adventure and wanted to share the love {because we are all about LOVE!}
