Paige & Johnnie // Metropolitan Ballroom and Clubroom
Paige and Johnnie met at Urban Eatery, a restaurant on the ground floor of the Beach Club Residences where Johnnie lived at the time. He frequently visited the restaurant, and it wasn’t long until he became completely smitten with a very cute server — Paige! When he asked her out, she immediately accepted, and the rest is history. The two knew immediately that this relationship was different then ones they had before. They quickly fell in love, becoming both fun-loving best friends and devoted teammates. Johnnie even developed a newfound love for cats (a must for a relationship with Paige) and became enamored with her two cats, Simon and Spike. Together, they formed their little family.
For their wedding, the couple knew they wanted a classic theme with an over-the-top, 40’s New York, swanky jazz club vibe. The Metropolitan Ballroom and Clubroom was the perfect venue choice with its tiered ballroom seating, prominent stage, and massive crystal chandelier. They took full advantage of the stage with a ten-piece band that performed during dinner as well as into the night. The jazz club vibe was also infused into the cocktail hour with a jazz trio, complete with a trumpet and lounge singer perched on the piano. Two magnificent champagne towers stood near the doors for the guests as they entered cocktail hour.
The décor was extravagant and dramatic, with lavish florals (including an amazing floral tunnel!) and striking gold accents against black backdrops. The dining tables were lavishly set with opulent décor, and paired with gold dining chairs. The linens were a gorgeous combo of rich velvet, brocades, and sequin overlay. On the upper level, thematic lounge groupings with deco furnishings and a gold front mirrored bar were arranged for guests to relax and enjoy signature cocktails. Paige’s favorite color, olive green, was featured prominently throughout the design with olive green velvet napkins and table numbers, velvet invitation liner and silk ribbon, and the velvet ribbon on the cake. Even the seemingly simple cake was embossed with the retro patterning from the invitation suite.
The dinner was just as high-end as the decor. It began with a relish tray presented in French service style by the servers. Rather than a traditional salad course, the couple opted for soup to be served instead. For the main course, guests dined on wagyu steak and seabass. A special wine pairing accompanied each course for the ultimate dining experience. For dessert, guests dined on mini French pastries and chocolate peanut butter wedding cake.
As the festivities drew late into the night, no one wanted this perfect day to end. The extravagant, sophisticated, and glamorous celebration was a captivating representation of Paige and Johnnie’s desire to be transported back in time for their wedding day.
