Real Weddings // Connie + Kelly

This past June, our weddings team planned and designed a truly romantic and elegant affair for bride and groom, Connie and Kelly, at the one-and-only Calhoun Beach Club {one of our favorite venues, especially for summer weddings!}  A fun-loving couple giving marriage another go-around, Connie and Kelly wanted all the traditions of the marriage celebration, but done with a twist and in a fun and sophisticated manner.

The lavish affair started with a cocktail and passed hors d’oeuvres reception on the patio. Guests appreciated being able to get a drink as they filtered in from work on the Friday late afternoon.  The beautiful sounds of the Loring String Quartet entertained guests as they wound down from the week and enjoyed the beautiful sunny day and stunning views of Lake Calhoun.

Guests were then ushered into the Boulevard Room for the ceremony.  Connie’s Monique Lhuillier gown provided much of the inspiration for the ceremony decor.  The ceremony backdrop with peonies suspended from vintage ribbon and tulle was inspired by the lace underlay of Connie’s dress.  The motif of the hand-painted aisle runner was used throughout the design, including the print material and cake {both beautifully created by our friends at Gateaux}.  Many a tears flowed as Connie’s son, in full Marine dress blues, walked his mother down the staircase!

Guests then proceeded to the Solarium for dinner.  We mixed three subtly different linens for added texture which were accompanied by beautifully lush floral arrangements comprised of garden roses, peonies, hydrangeas, ranunculus and a bevy of other beautiful blooms {thanks to the lovely ladies at Martha’s Gardens}.  Gold chiavaris, gold and silver chargers, and a variety of vintage decor including mercury glass and antique sterling silver vases, votives and candelabras added additional interest to the neutral palette.  {We love to mix our metals!}  Of course a stunning reception must have spot-on lighting to highlight all the beautiful elements and add even more visual interest, and Adam at Phos Events knows just how to do it!

Guests dined on delicious food from our friends at D’Amico Catering and danced the night away to one of our favorite bands, Synergy. Our very best wishes to the happy couple!
